Right after I grabbed this pair of Kako Ultra Ice Trekkers (and another for Greg) from the rack, the buyer from the Portland Police Bureau came in and snatched up the rest. He looked covetously at mine, and I turned my back and ran for the register before he could commandeer them. That's two officers that will just have to shuffle more carefully after the bad guys, I guess . . .

I scored a bag containing some of those rubber-chain shoe-bondage thingys (not quite as fancy as yours but they work the same way) at a yard sale this past summer. I tossed the bag into the hall closet and forgot about it, until the snow and ice came. Then I pulled out the bag yesterday and discovered that I had gotten not one, but TWO pairs of the things. Sweetie was glad.
So was I. I'd paid a buck for the bag.
Shoe bondage totally rules in this weather.
Well, that picture just knocked Portland off someone's list of possible college destinations.
